High Resistance Grass Seeds
- Size: 1 Kg.
- Valid for up to 40 m2.
- Walkable grass: Mixture prepared with herbs ideal for the formation of grass
- Resistant to trampling. Therefore, it is recommended for all situations of use such as children's play areas, moderate traffic areas, etc.
- It adapts to all types of terrain and grows quickly, forming dense and compact carpets.
- Soil preparation: Before sowing the grass, it is advisable to enrich the soil with nutrients using compost.
- Ideally, organic fertiliser should be used in combination with peat (in the case of mature manure spread approx. 400 kg of manure per 100 square metres of lawn). Alternatively, complex mineral fertilisers can be used at a rate of approx. 8 kg per 100 square metres of lawn.
- Then, if possible, plough the soil to a depth of 30-40 cm or, failing that, make a good excavation.
- Another possibility is to dig up the soil well. Before sowing, the soil should be worked again, breaking up the largest clods of earth and removing stones and weeds.
- Finally, level the surface (you can use a rake) with a slight slope to avoid harmful water stagnation.
- Sowing: The best time for sowing is September-October. The recommended dose is 1 kg of seed for every 40-50 square meters of lawn surface. Before sowing, mix the contents of the bag well.
- Sow by hand in criss-cross passes, first in one direction and then in the other, to avoid leaving uncovered areas. After sowing, it is best to cover the seed with a thin layer of soil or peat.
- You can also lightly rake the soil to bury the seeds. The soil should then be rolled or pressed.
- Finally, water thoroughly.
- Maintenance: Maintain frequent watering until the first seedlings emerge, which occurs approximately 10-15 days after planting.
- Make the first cut after the grass has reached a height of about 10-15 cm. During the first 2-3 cuts do not cut the grass below 5-6 cm.
- Irrigation: Water periodically according to needs and weather trends, preferably during the less hot hours of the day, preferably during the coolest hours of the day (early morning and late afternoon). Distribute the water evenly trying to avoid stagnation.
- Weeds: Control them with frequent cutting and good fertilization. If the number of weeds is limited, with a little patience it is possible to manually remove unwanted plants by the roots.
- If, on the other hand, there are a large number of plants, it is possible to use selective herbicide preparations.
- Fertilization: This is essential for achieving a lush and uniform lawn. Fertilizer helps the development of the plant, promoting the growth of both the aerial part and the root system. The best fertilizers for lawns are those defined as slow-release (they release their nutrients continuously into the soil) and with a high nitrogen content, which is an important element in the soil.
- Generally, the best time to fertilize is in spring. This is the ideal season for grass, when the plant grows considerably. A second fertilization in September is also advisable.
