It was designed in 1954 and has been a true design icon ever since. This world-famous classic with an unmistakable French charm is timeless and fits into different table styles. It is made of tempered glass which is 2.5 times stronger than normal glass. A Duralex glass is virtually unbreakable. If broken, it will shatter into endless small pieces that have no sharp cutting edges and where there is no risk of injury.

What is tempered or toughened glass?
During the production process, the material is first heated to a temperature of approximately 700°C and then cooled abruptly, ensuring a noticeable improvement in the physical properties of the glass. This makes it resistant to thermal shocks of 130°C and is 2.5 times stronger than normal glass. The glass is almost unbreakable. If broken, it shatters into small pieces that have no sharp edges and where there is no risk of injury.
Since its foundation in 1945, Duralex has been the market leader in the production of tempered glass. Duralex products are made from hygienic, non-porous glass and are dishwasher, microwave and freezer safe. Production, from raw materials to packaging material, is carried out entirely in France.
