IBERIA CLOTHING DYE - CHOCOLATE

Box contents: 2 sachets of dye + packet of colour fixative.

What types of fabrics can I dye?
Any natural fabric can be dyed, you just need to choose the right dye for each one. For wool, silk and polyamide, use a solid dye. For cotton, linen or viscose, use a liquid dye. Be careful, this type of fabric can sometimes shrink, so be sure to respect the soaking time. And for delicate fabrics, such as muslin, it is best to opt for a cold dye. Remember, synthetic fabrics such as polyester and acrylic do not dye.

Products you will need
-One or two 1 kg packets of coarse salt.
-A color fixative.
- A dye in individual sachets. Always choose a product adapted to the material you wish to dye. The IBERIA brand has a wide variety of colours.

Our tricks
. By hand or machine?
All fabrics can be machine dyed, except wool.
. Hot dyeing and hand dyeing
Use a colour fixative to prevent the clothes from bleeding unless you dye them in the washing machine. In this case it is not necessary. In the event that the colours do leak, there are SOS products, but you must act immediately.
. Cold dye
After soaking your clothes for 50 minutes in the dye, salt and a fixative, it is advisable to rinse them with cold water until they become clear. Then wash them separately in hot water with detergent to remove any excess dye.
. Dye on colored fabrics
When you dye a fabric, the dye does not cover the original colour, but mixes with it. For this reason, it is necessary to bleach the fabric before dyeing it. Use a pre-dye bleach, which restores a neutral colour and leaves it ready to be dyed.
. Fix the dye
After dyeing, the fabric may lose some of its colour after the first wash. To fix it, soak the fabric in cold water with white vinegar.

Dyeing in the washing machine
- Pour the dye directly into the bottom of the washing machine drum.
- Add the necessary amount of salt (one kilo for each whole packet of dye).
- Set your washing machine to 60ºC without pre-wash.
- Once the programme has finished, wash it with your usual detergent. Choose 60ºC for silk and other delicate fabrics and 90ºC for cotton.
- To dry dyed clothes, avoid the sun at all costs and avoid wrinkles that may be indelible.
- Steam iron all dyed fabrics.

Tie Dye and Tie Dye Print
This type of dye is an authentic Japanese craft that has crossed centuries and oceans. It is made on light-based fabrics and allows for the creation of the famous tie-dye print. Tie-dye allows for original multi-coloured prints. How to do it? On a white fabric such as a sarong or a previously washed and ironed T-shirt, tie knots at least two centimetres apart before soaking it. You can also use rubber bands or cords to tie the knots. Wet your clothes before immersing them in the bath for the time indicated in the instructions for use of the dye used. Rinse it without undoing the knots. If you use hot dye, wash it to drain the excess colour. Let it dry and then undo the knots. Done!

After dyeing
It is imperative to clean the washing machine by running an empty wash with detergent to prevent traces of dye in your next washes. In addition, dyed fabrics must always be washed separately the first time to purify them and prevent them from bleeding.

Now all that's left is for you to put all our advice into practice. Good luck!
